General Manager – Full Time

Position located: Mosaic District, Fairfax, VA

(requires weekend, night and holiday shifts)

Job Description:

 

The General Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and maintaining all aspects of operations at Mosaic. Key responsibilities include staff development and retention, cost adherence, building sales, financial results, excellent guest service and a positive “can do” attitude. The General Manager is a brand representative for our cinemas and is responsible for upholding company goals and standards of quality and service to both staff and guests.

 

Expectations:

Overall management of the entire theater complex; including employee management, hiring, training, film scheduling, loss prevention, movie presentation, facility maintenance, and customer service.  Strong emphasis leading a large team, as well as driving business results with a strong restaurant quality, quick-service environment food and beverage, and bar environment background!

Budget creation and management experience required, as well as analyzing P&L reports and managing to those budgets.

Oversee the creation of weekly film schedules, and forecast upcoming attendance levels based on movie titles, seasons, weather, etc.

Payroll control in hiring, training, and scheduling staff.  Ability to make labor decisions both long and short-term in order to meet budget expectations.

Enable on-going staff development, including cross training, to ensure all relevant staff are properly trained.

Oversee daily facility inspections, with a focus on customer and staff safety.  Ability to work with vendors, corporate office, or theatre staff to correct any issues as they arise.

Work with regional marketing manager regularly to bring events (and execute them) to the Angelika Mosaic.

Implement controls and systems to ensure the proper handling and security of merchandise, money, equipment, etc. on a daily basis.

Manage the food and beverage program throughout the theater (kitchen, concessions, lounge, and café). Hands on and flexible approach towards day-to-day operations, excellent problem solving and decision making skills to ensure proper staff support, food service and guest interaction.

Oversee kitchen, concessions, lounge, and café operations daily to ensure equipment, food and safety are maintained at optimal level. Create a safe working environment to reduce the risk of injury and food handling related issues.

Conduct meetings when necessary with managers, staff, and corporate office. Ensure shift meetings occur every day and keep staff informed on new developments and upcoming events.

Post and communicate schedules in a timely manner.

Maintain strong communication with all areas of the theater (management, lounge, café, kitchen, etc.) and maintain an upbeat presence on the floor during operations.

Ensure proper security procedures are in place to protect staff members, guests and company assets.

Control food cost by managing the inventory process including ordering/receiving and invoice accuracy.

5 day/45+ hour work week, with heavier work schedule during higher volume seasons.  Work schedule to include Friday thru Monday shifts, as well as nights, weekends and holidays.

 

Experience:

2 to 3 years+ of solid experience in a restaurant/food-service management capacity.

One (1) year minimum hands-on kitchen experience with knowledge of food preparation and kitchen equipment.

1 to 2 years+ experience managing alcohol/bar operations. 

ServSafe Certification, local Health Certification (as required) and VABC Certification are required.

Knowledge of Aloha POS Systems, as well as Menulink Inventory System would be a plus, as well as basic computer skills, especially Excel and Adobe.
