not-so-scary movies

Everyone seems to love pranks and horror movies this time of year, but what about those of us who don’t like losing sleep, thinking that Jason or Freddy is lurking behind every door? Well we have a list for you! So grab some popcorn, some fun size candy bars, and turn on one of these movies to get into the spirit without needing a nightlight.

Hocus Pocus

Even though Bette Midler singing “Boooooooook” sometimes haunts my dreams and these long-dead ladies are on a mission to eat children, Hocus Pocus is somehow not overly scary. You can handle this one.

Beetlejuice

Michael Keaton makes this role more gross than scary, but it’s just spooky enough to get your Halloween vibe on without the nightmares.

Teen Witch

Top that! Cute story, some cheesy laughs and clothes that are back in style again. What’s not to love?

Ghostbusters

Yes, there are ghosts, but you’ll laugh so much, you won’t lose any sleep over this one. Plus, you already know the theme song by heart.

Rocky Horror Picture Show

This one is definitely not for the kids, but you can’t be scared—it’s too weird. And if you haven’t seen it, it’s time to get your fill of a young Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon singing some cult classics. And Meatloaf. Never forget about Meatloaf.
