Poffy’s mission is to bring sophisticated, simple and delicious fun treats to create food inclusivity for the food-allergy community (and everyone else!) to enjoy. No matter your food preference, we want you to know that you belong!
Our story began when our love for food and travel brought us to discover foods from around the world. We loved popping into a gelato ice cream parlor in Italy or sightseeing in Greece while eating delicious calamari from a to-go cup. We loved that you can eat simple, sophisticated treats while strolling or spending time with family.
It was during our trip to Japan that we discovered Belgian-inspired waffles. We immediately knew that we wanted to take these treats to a whole new level.
Using our experience in retail and food-service combined with our love for cooking & baking, we had all the tools and resources right in our own kitchen in Virginia. We started experimenting with founder Lilian’s mother’s original recipe for Dutch mini pancakes, also known as poffertjes (pronounced POH-furt-jes).
We created poffertjes in flavors including Indonesian-inspired sweet pandan, red velvet, matcha, pumpkin and banana with a menu of fillings including chocolate chip, jam, bacon, spam and Gula Jawa (Indonesian palm sugar.) We also prepared fun sauces, including strawberry, raspberry and blueberry coulis, to name a few.
What’s in them? We know how scary children’s food allergies can be, that’s why our treats are made with simple ingredients for the allergy-conscious. Our poffertjes are free of 7 of the 9 major allergens. You heard that right!
We want everyone—including moms, dads and anyone with allergies—to confidently know what ingredients they are consuming. We understand how important it is to take a bite with confidence and peace of mind.
