This premiere film festival is a showcase of some of the best and brightest talent to come from George Mason University’s Film and Video Studies program.
A Q&A session with the filmmakers will follow the program.
“November 19th” by Stefania Jubiz – A high-strung girl, Isabella, quickly spirals out of sanity in a race to discover if she has chosen wisely between her ex-boyfriend and soon-to-be fiancé.
“Disregarded” by Edwin Hernandez – Trying to live up to the expectations of his peers, Blake, a seemingly ordinary college freshman, grapples with staying comfortably in the closet or stepping out and potentially losing everything he’s ever known.
“Keys to Time” by Christina Baker – When confronted by his ten-year-old self through letters written on an antique typewriter, Nathan begins to rethink his ordinary life.
“Nick Smith: Just a Preview” by Clifton Jackson – Nick Smith, a 25-year-old tree-cutting man from the rural town of Kent Store, Virginia, aspires to be a successful country music singer and songwriter. As Nick finishes his debut Nashville studio album, “Just a Preview,” he reflects on the long journey of hardships and experiences that shaped him into the man he is today, one that is determined to show the world that dreams can come true.
“Playthings” by Brian Boenau – Like many children, Mason is convinced that there’s a monster living in his closet. At first frightened, Mason soon discovers that the monster–named Tyr–simply wants to play with him, and a fast friendship develops between the two. But what was once innocent soon turns destructive as Mason–now a young man–fears that his relationship with Tyr is beginning to encroach upon his personal life… and potentially his sanity.
